Plot
The Abyss – a void left to be explored in the world, stretching down into the depth of the earth. Filled with mysterious and magical creatures as well as expensive and rare relics from the past. Countless intrepid individuals; cave raiders have sought to explore the truth of the abyss. How does it came to the existence, the curse of the abyss and what lies at the bottom? Each cave raiders are provided with a rank denoted by whistles as insignia and each whistle have certain limit proscribing to dive in further. Upon coming in proximity with relics the divers blow the whistles to let others know their location. Among the cave raiders the best, the bravest and the valiant ones are white whistlers, fearlessly descending into its darkest realms of the abyss without any limitation, hailed as legends by those who choose to stay on the surface.
Riko, daughter of the missing white whistler named Lyza the Annihilator, aspires to become just like her mother and explore the deepest and darkest realms of the Abyss. However, Riko is a tyro red whistler and permitted only to amble in the epidermal layer of the abyss. Riko finally decided to dive forth into the chasm to meet up with her mother and never to return surface after encountering with a mysterious robot in the appearance of an ordinary young boy; Reg. Reg has no recollection of past events. Further, the journey also ventures to recover memories of Reg and the true existence and curse of the abyss.

Made in Abyss is a phenomenal fantasy world-building with magical creatures, powers, Riko’s past, her dedication, Reg’s individuality and scintillas of Lyza’s journey. It isn’t a cute chibi anime that keep on things light-hearted. Made in abyss gets on darker with every passing episode and hardships of Riko and Reg. It explores side characters in a much more profound way, implementing proper screen time and development. The series is loaded with tons of amusement and non-expected moments that give a burst of freshness in the story. Further, Made in Abyss makes hard to surmise or deduce the upcoming occurrences in scenes.

Animation
Animation executed in Made In Abyss is exemplary. In fact, Made In Abyss can be said as the marksmanship of animation style and designs when comes to world-building. Vibrant colours, vigorous backgrounds and elegantly implemented chibi characters put breath to the anime. Infact, it is what makes Made in Abyss stand out the box. The vibrancy and the elegance, in spite of implementing chibi characters. The overall animation of Made in Abyss is good but action sequence were more notable. The sound work is also impressive, especially the way ambience was created.
