Welcome to Demon School! Iruma Kun, A Light-Hearted Comedy Unsheathed from The Blend of Isekai-Shonen

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun is by far the most unexpected and surprising anime I’ve seen. Surpassed the ‘whatever’ in Isekai Mushrooming.

If sold off as a child in trafficking, one cannot expect a life full of frivolity, enjoyment and opulence rather it ends with prostitution, slavery and child labour. However, Iruma Suzuki a 14-year had a different fate altogether. Iruma is a pushover and has been unfortunate all his life. Despite being the only earning member of the family, Iruma was sold off to a demon named Sullivan by his lousy, irresponsible parents for money.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun mostly focuses on comedy but comprises of life lessons as well. The series is a blend of Isekai-shonen genre. With the usual naive pacifist lead, the series takes an expedition to regular high-school with a modicum of demonic touch. The plot is quite interesting however, the setup as is, it lacks character development.

After being sold off, Sullivan takes Iruma to the netherworld and put Iruma’s worries to rest. For Sullivan, who never had a kid merely wants to adopt Iruma as a grandchild. The conversation bemused Iruma and he cannot comprehend the gravity? However, He decided to stay in the netherworld considering the fact that there is no one for him in the real world.

Henceforth, Sullivan, one of the three heroes in the demon-world and potential candidate for the demon king enrolled Iruma in The Babylus Demon School. Sullivan also happens to be the Chair-Demon of the school. This marks the beginning of the subsequent bizarre events in the Babylus. Iruma who tries to keep a low profile in order to not stand out as human, so no one devours him fails miserably due to his unforeseen circumstances and constant doting of Lord Sullivan. However, Asmodeus Alice and Valac Clara a prodigy and an eccentric character respectively are there to save Iruma’s back in this bizarre journey.

The animation quality of ‘Welcome to Demon School! Iruma Kun’ is quite good. The series contains ample amount of frames and doesn’t stagnate anywhere. the overall animation looks good. While the animation is almost minimal the fireworks, the demi-girl concert and the fight between Iruma vs Asmodeus definitely stands out of the crowd. Moreover, manga reading sessions also jut despite the use of stills.

The Characters designs are alluring. Specifically of eccentric Clara Valac. Iruma and Asmodeus also seem interestingly charming, not to mention Lord Sullivan constant jumps from adorable doting miniature to serious and responsible adult.

The sound work of the series instantly indulges you in animation. “Bdump- Bdump”,”Grr” and other effects used to create ambience in the series and the manga reading sessions makes the heart go “Bdump”. It gives the viewer a vicarious feeling of reading a Manga.
